Steampunk Adventure

Show notes

Season 1, Episode 5: The Most Splendid Race; or: How Divinia von Presterton Raced Lord Tiberius Q. Braithwaite Around the World and, Concurrently, Saved the United States with the Power of Steam!

The year is 1899. As the world approaches the millennium it is a time of wonder-- the Industrial Revolution has spawned an unprecedented era of invention and innovation. In a past not too different from our own, men and women take to the skies in airships and dirigibles; conquer the world with electricity and steam! When America's foremost adventuress, Divinia von Presterton, is denied entrance to the all-male Metcalfe Society she challenges the club's president to a race around the world! Along the way they'll meet Tesla, Annie Oakley, Henry Ford, Queen Victoria, a slightly zombified Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Edison and his terrible death ray! It's steampunk adventure and comedy in a splendid vision of days gone by!

Recorded live at Bozeman, Montana's Equinox Theatre, now known as the Verge Theater on July 16, 2011! What you hear is what the audience heard with no overdubs and minimal post-production to try to make it comfortable to your ears! In this first season, we had not yet made the decision to have entirely analog effects, but Sound Impresario Rob Robinson did activate each one live on stage!
